POLICE are hunting a thief who snatched a bag from a woman as she walked home from work in Mansfield.

It happened in Chesterfield Road South at about 5pm on Sunday 16th December.

The suspect rode up to the 20-year-old victim on a mountain bike, grabbed her handbag, and pulled it off her shoulder.

He then rode off towards the junction of Abbott Road and Little Debdale Lane.

The woman was left incredibly shaken but was not injured.

The thief is described as white and aged between 18 and 20. He was wearing a grey hooded jacket, with the hood up, dark tracksuit bottoms and a black scarf covering part of his face.

Officers believe the stolen bag may have been abandoned somewhere near the scene.

It was a blue plastic shopping bag with the word Goldwell, and pictures of haircuts, on the side.

Witnesses or anyone with information about the incident are asked to call DC Lee Keeling on 101, extension 805 3463, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
