Development is planned for Oakham House

Plans for a new development of bespoke houses planned for Mansfield have been welcomed.

Oakham Homes, a consortium of four successful local business people, has applied to Mansfield District Council for permission to enhance land off High Oakham Drive.

The company wants to convert High Oakham House, a farmhouse, a cottage and outbuildings to form six new homes, and they are looking for outline planning permission for the erection of up to 22 dwellings, landscaping and associated works.

The buildings currently on the site are in need of urgent repair, while the land itself is currently unmanaged and unsustainable in its current form.

Adrian Yeomans, one of the four people behind the scheme, said: “I fell in love with this site and it is somewhere I would want my family to live. When we looked at what we could potentially achieve, we were adamant that it had to be something that enhanced the environment and wasn’t simply yet another high-density housing development.

“We have a real opportunity to create something special, create somewhere that helps to put Mansfield on the map and create something we can all be exceptionally proud of.”
