Halcyon Theuri, 21, was found dead in the middle of Wingfield Road on the outskirts of the town shortly before 4am on Monday, August 31.

Police have carried out extensive inquiries to find out how Halcyon died and believe he may have been hit by a vehicle – although they are keeping an open mind.

Now, detectives are heading into Swanwick to issue leaflets appealing for information about Halcyon’s death.

They are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area of Wingfield Road between 3.30 and 3.50am on Bank Holiday Monday.

They also want to know if anyone saw a vehicle with any damage to it in the days or weeks following Halcyon’s death.

Detective Inspector Dave Kirby, who is leading the investigation, said: “We want to hear from anyone who was driving in the area around those times or saw vehicles being driven.

“We believe Halcyon may have been struck by a vehicle and I would urge anyone who saw a vehicle with any damage on it to come forward.

“No matter how insignificant that information may seem, it could prove crucial in our efforts to find out how Halcyon died.”

Halcyon had been out for a drink in Ripley with friends and was on his way home to The Peacock at Oakerthorpe, where he worked as a chef.

Thanks to information from the public and CCTV images it has emerged that Halcyon left the Tesco car park at 3.30am and walked down King Street towards Gooker Lane. He was found in the Alfreton bound carriageway of the A615 at 3.54am.

Police have already released CCTV footage of Halcyon and the headlights of two cars which were in the area around the time of his death, which can be viewed online at www.derbyshire.police.uk.

The drivers of the cars or anyone who has any information should contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
