DERBYSHIRE: Police thanks for fraud review

The results will be used to steer an upcoming police initiative committed to offering practical crime prevention advice to help keep local communities safe from fraudsters.

It will be led by Derbyshire police and supported by Derbyshire County Council and Derby City Council with the aim of increasing public awareness of fraud.

Police involved in the force-wide drive launched the survey to find out about public awareness of fraud, their knowledge of how to report it and any experiences they may have with it.

The work will be committed to keeping the public informed about circulating scams and offering practical crime prevention advice to help keep local communities safe from fraudsters.

Det Insp Rob King, head of the constabulary’s economic crime unit, said: “A major part our drive is to raise awareness of the different types of frauds and also to find the best ways to help people to protect themselves from this dangerous and damaging crime.

“It is really important that we take on board how much the public already know about fraud so I will really like to thank those who took the time to share their views on the crime.”
