The ‘Redefining Your Council’ document proposes wholesale changes to the way services are delivered and a modernisation of how the council operates.

It is needed in order to save £80m over three years without affecting frontline services.

It is likely to mean that the council will deliver less services directly in the future, with some of its functions being provided by mutual companies, charitable trusts or commissioned from the private or public sector.

Proposals for individual service areas will go out to consultation as they are developed, but the council wants to hear what local people think about the broader plans.

Residents are being urged to have their say by filling in the short questionnaire online at www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/redefiningyourcouncil or completing a paper copy, available from all libraries.

The consultation is open until 17th June, with a report on its findings set to be considered by Policy Committee on 2nd July.

Council leader Alan Rhodes said: “Redefining Your Council sets out how we are proposing to manage the biggest changes to the way Nottinghamshire County Council operates in its 125-year history.

“The changes are likely to impact everyone as they are rolled out, so it is really important we offer people the chance to get involved and have their say at this early stage.”
