Dance troup perform for local groups

Senior performers representing Eastwood and Nuthall School of Dancing are enriching the lives of groups and organisations in the local community with their talents.

Under the watchful eyes of their principal Joanne Tinklin, dancers Jane Clark, Ellie Poxon, Emma Haydon and Sarah Smith, have been taking time out to entertain with a programme of well rehearsed routines.

Among the latest to see the dancers in action were members of the Nuthall St Patrick’s Wednesday Club who applauded displays that included tap dancing and ballet.

Based at the Plumptre Hall in Eastwood and at St Patrick’s Church Hall in Nuthall, the dance school is now in its tenth year and follows in the illustrious footsteps of two dance schools which have gone before.

In the 1960’s Betty Rose was at the helm when her Nuthall dance school made its mark, after which the Jane Leighton School of Dancing filled her illustrious footsteps.

Current dance teacher Joanne Tinklin, who has around 100 young people registered at her classes said: “Our predecessors set high standards which we have endeavoured to maintain.”

Newcomers are invited to join Joanne’s dance classes.
