Dad banned after wife’s eyesight panic

A Kirkby dad has been given 180 hours’ unpaid work after driving while disqualified.

Mansfield magistrates were told how on 5th December Cameron Mitchell (56), of Edward Street, was seen driving into his street by police, who were there on another matter, and arrested.

Emma Goodall, defending, said Mitchell, who had a son with a disablement, had received a call from his wife saying she had lost the power of sight

She added: “She has been treated for high blood pressure and loses sight without any warning.

“In absolute panic he got into his car and collected her.”

Mitchell was banned from driving for 18 months, given a 12-month community order, and court costs of £115.
