Cyclist who died in Mansfield road smash is named

A cyclist who died in a collision in Mansfield has been named.

Nicholas Highfield (41) of the Mansfield Woodhouse area, died on Thursday.

It happened at around 9.50pm when a green Izuzu 4x4 was in a collision with a bike close to the Mines Rescue Service building on the A60 Leeming Lane South, close to its junction with the B6032 Mansfield Road.

Mr Highfield was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 33-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident. He has since been released on bail pending further investigation work.
