A cyclist suffered serious injuries after being '˜glassed' by a gang before having his bike stolen in Mansfield.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information about the incident which happened on Church Street just before 11pm on Wednesday (August 9).

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said: “A man, who was among a group of people, threw a glass bottle at the victim, causing a serious cut to his arm.

“The injured cyclist returned to confront the group and got off his bike. At this point an unknown person got on the bike and rode off.

“Officers took the cyclist to hospital. His injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.”
