A cunning thief is caught in the act

A drug addict has admitted using pricing labels from groceries to scan stolen clothing through Sutton’s Asda checkout at a cheaper price.

Mansfield magistrates were told how Charlene Kerr (34), of no fixed abode, scanned a £10 par of shoes as £0.50 worth of plums and tried to do the same with other clothes.

Mark Stocks, defending told the court how Kerr had been evicted by Framework and had been homeless ever since.

She was bailed to re-appear today at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court while a probation report was prepared.
