Criminals warned they are watched
Large warning signs have been put in place around Sutton which remind potential troublemakers and shoplifters they are being watched.
The 50cm2 signs are being placed on pavements, in shopping centres and on the floors of retail and licensed premises.
The signs are the visible part of the Storenet project in which a radio network is used to share information about potential troublemakers in licensed premises.
It means information about offenders such as shoplifters, can now be quickly and efficiently shared between the police, council officers and pubs and retail businesses.
