A Mansfield woman has admitted stealing pants and bras worth £10 from Primark, magistrates were told.

Robert Carr, prosecuting, told the court how Kerry Ball (39), of Stacey Road, was detained by store staff after being seen putting the underwear in her shoulder bag and attempting to leave without paying.

Nicola Thorpe, defending, said Ball suffered from learning difficulties and depression.

“She is at a loss as to why she committed the theft,” said Ms Thorpe.”

Ball also admitted failing to attend her original court appearance for the offence. Ms Thorpe said Ball had been left terrified by what had happened.

She was given a six-month conditional discharge.
