Woman accused of coughing in shop manager’s face and claiming she had virus in Mansfield

A 27-year-old woman has been charged with common assault following an allegation that she coughed in the face of a Mansfield shop manager and claimed she had Coronavirus.

The incident happened at around 2.30pm on Monday, April 6, when Jade Tilstone was arrested for a shop theft and whilst being detained she allegedly coughed in the face of the store manager at B&M Bargains.

The thefts happened last week when she stole items including alcohol from B&M Bargains in Mansfield.

Detective Sergeant Lauren Morgan said: "Nottinghamshire Police takes assaults like this on workers extremely seriously and protecting them is important during the current coronavirus pandemic."

Tilstone, of no fixed address, admitted four shop thefts, but denied common assault, when she appeared at Nottingham Magistrates Court on Tuesday, April 7.

She was given conditional bail until May 6 for an interim hearing.
