WATCH: Ashfield drink driver jailed following high speed chase after failing to hide from police dog
A drink driver spotted speeding in Sutton-in-Ashfield has been jailed after trying and failing to hide from a police dog.
Josh Soar, aged 27, was spotted driving at excess speed in Sutton-in-Ashfield at about 12.15am on November 20 last year.
Roads Policing officers began to pursue him along Lammas Road, Soar reached speeds of around 90mph in a 30mph limit.
He then continued along Alfreton Road, before losing control at the junction with Charnwood Street and colliding with a parked car.

Soar ran from the vehicle and disappeared into the darkness.
PD Max and his handler arrived on the scene a short time later and began a search of the area.
After leading his handler a short distance along the road, Max, a formidable German Shepherd, picked up a scent and soon turned his attention to a parked van on the corner of the street.
Soar, who has a previous conviction for drink driving, was soon found hiding underneath and arrested.
During a subsequent breath test he was found to be more than twice over the legal alcohol limit.
Sergeant Nick Dachtler, of the police dog section, said: “Soar put multiple lives in danger that night, including his own and that of his passenger.
“After fleeing the wreckage of his vehicle, he may have thought for a moment that he had given the pursuing officers the slip.
“Unfortunately for him PD Max had other ideas and soon put his outstanding tracking ability to impressive use.
“Thanks to him and all the other officers involved, Soar will have to wait a very long time before he is able to take to the roads again.”
Soar, of the Oval Sutton-in-Ashfield, later pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and drink driving.
Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday 3 March, he was jailed for 14-months and banned from driving for five years and seven months.
If he is to drive legally again, he will have to pass an extended retest.
