'Vulnerable' elderly woman targeted by burglars in Mansfield

A vulnerable elderly woman was targeted by burglars in Mansfield overnight, leaving ther house upside down and her handbag emptied.

It is believed that the crime took place between 10pm on September 29 and 7.15am on September 30.

Officers are now appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Andy Hall, of Nottinghamshire Police, is leading the investigation.

He said: "Officers were called at around 8am on Wednesday to Normanton Drive in Mansfield following a report of burglary that occurred overnight.

"It was reported a carer attended a home to assist with an elderly vulnerable woman and saw the mess and called police.

"Upon the officers arrival the back door was wide open and an untidy house.

"We are now appealing for anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious in the area to call 101, quoting incident 98 of 30 September 2020."
