Two more arrests after Nottinghamshire attack left man in hospital with serious injuries

Two more people have been arrested after a Nottinghamshire disturbance which culminated in a serious collision.

Leona Bailey, 25, of Cinderhill Road, Bulwell, and Shehzaam Ayub, 21, of Collison Street, Radford, will appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court today (Tuesday January 14).

Bailey has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm and Ayub has been charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

Officers were called to a report of a collision on Saxondale Drive, Bulwell, involving a man and a car, at about 2.15pm on Saturday (11 January 11).

It was later established that a disturbance had taken place between a group of people before the collision took place.

Three other people also appeared before magistrates yesterday (Monday January 13), each charged with affray and possession of a bladed article in connection with the incident.

Shaad Ayub, 28, of Brayton Crescent, Bulwell, Sufiyan Hussain, 22, of Patchwork Row, Shirebrook, and Shaban Hussain, 19, of Brayton Crescent, Bulwell, were remanded in custody to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 10 February.

Detective Inspector Ed Cook, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: " Five people have now been charged and our enquiries are continuing at pace. The man who was injured by the car suffered serious chest injuries. Thankfully he is in a stable condition and his injuries are now not believed to be life-threatening.

"Serious violence, including the use of knives and other weapons, will not be tolerated in Nottinghamshire and we will deal with such incidents swiftly and robustly."
