Two men arrested after attempted aggravated burglary in Forest Town

Police have arrested two men in connection with an attempted aggravated burglary in Forest Town.

It was reported that two men were using weapons to try and force entry to a house on Newton Street around 4.45pm on Friday.

A 28-year-old man and a 29-year-old man were arrested a short while later, with the 29-year-old also being arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

Detective Sergeant Lauren Morgan is leading the investigation. She said: "Officers were called to the scene and worked quickly to track down the vehicle linked to the incident.

"Thankfully no entry was made and no one was injured, although damage was caused to the property, with the two men reportedly shouting and abusing the victim inside, whilst kicking the door frame.

"Both suspects made off in a vehicle, which was quickly located by officers two miles away on Second Avenue.

“Both men remain in police custody."
