Officers from the Sutton Neighbourhood Policing Team charged two males, one aged 19 and one aged 20, with four counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs on the Carsic Estate during a targeted operation on Thursday.

Officers worked late into the evening to ensure the two were remanded into custody.

It comes as Inspector Craig Hall, Ashfield's district commander, hailed the successes of the police's targeted approach to drug-related crimes on Carsic which had led to the previous arrest of seven other suspected drug dealers.

It follows an outcry from residents about an ongoing "gang" problem on the Sutton estate which had been "blighting" the area with anti-social behaviour.

In his report, Inspector Hall revealed that three children, including an eight-year-old, are being protected by officers after being "exploited" by suspected drug dealers in Sutton.

And appearing at Mansfield Magistrates Court on Friday, one of the defendants was remanded into custody and the other has been released on court bail with conditions.

PC Jamie Hinks, police officer responsible for the Carsic Estate and officer in charge of the case, said: "Drugs offences are a priority in Sutton, as drug dealers damage the town and the local community.

"Drug dealing affects everyone. Drug dealers take advantage of vulnerable people and exploit children for their own selfish financial gain.

“People in the community of Carsic are sick of drug dealers in their estate causing mayhem and plaguing the community they love.

"In the last few months, people will be aware of warrants being executed on the estate, as well as other enforcement action taking place.
