Two people have been arrested after a man was seen ‘throwing a large knife into a car’ in Mansfield.

Police were called to a report of a man ‘throwing a large knife into a car and then driving away’ from Ravensdale Hotel pub in Sherwood Hall Road at around 2.20pm on Saturday, July 4.

Specialist officers tracked a vehicle of interest to Glapwell in Derbyshire. The vehicle was stopped and a knife was then recovered.

Police Sergeant Josesph Hall, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Knife crime is extremely serious and we take swift action whenever it is reported to us.

“I would encourage anyone who may have seen this incident to get in touch and help our ongoing enquiries.”

A 30-year-old man and a 32-year-old man arrested following the incident and have been released under investigation, the force confirmed.
