Teen arrested after ‘threatening people with knife’ in Mansfield

A police dog helped officers to detain a teenage suspect after people were reportedly threatened with a knife.

Police were called to Oxclose Lane, Mansfield, at around 12.05am on Friday after receiving a call from a member of the public.

A suspect fled the scene and was detained with the help of a police dog.

A large kitchen knife was also recovered from the scene.

The 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and remains in police custody.

Sergeant Gavin Berry, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Although incidents like this are very rare I am aware they can cause considerable alarm in the community.

“We take knife crime incredibly seriously and incidents like this will always be met with an immediate police response,” he added.
