Sutton thug stalked one ex-partner before viciously attacking her and another ex in the early hours

A Sutton thug who stalked one ex-partner before viciously attacking her and another ex in the early hours returned to continue the assault while they called police for help.

Harrowing audio captured the victims' cries of pain and fear as Oliver McCormack kicked and punched them on Brown Street, Mansfield, at 4am on December 27 last year.

Josephine Loft, prosecuting, told Nottingham Crown Court that he ran towards them and hurled a beer bottle at the first woman's face, splitting her lip, before pushing her to the floor.

When two men got out of a taxi McCormack cycled off, but returned as they were speaking to a police call handler.

He wrapped the first woman’s coat over her head and kicked her in the face.

When the second woman intervened and tried to shield her friend, he continued to circle around them and kick them on the ground.

He kicked the second woman so hard she lost a front tooth, leaving her with two black eyes, bruised ribs and a possible fractured jaw.

The court heard McCormack had been in a relationship with the second woman, which ended when he was jailed for nine months for seriously assaulting her, in 2024.

He began a relationship with the first woman after his release from prison, but it soon deteriorated when he “became jealous and paranoid she was seeing someone else.”

They separated in August last year but he continued to harass her and "eventually wore her down into getting back together because he wouldn’t leave her alone,” said Ms Loft.

Over the following months McCormack bombarded her with messages, accused her of being unfaithful, and even attached a phone to a washing line prop to film inside her bedroom.

He left Halloween decorations outside her home and threatening voicemails on her phone, before a non-molestation order was made on November 6.

This victim, who also sustained a swollen hand in the December attack, said: “I have no doubt he will resume his campaign against me and (the second woman)."

"I genuinely thought he was going to kill me,” she said in a statement, adding that she was “terrified” by the thought of her daughters mourning her every Christmas.

The court heard she suffers flashbacks to the attack every time she hears the turn of a bike wheel.

Gregor Purcell, mitigating, said the defendant deserved full credit for his early guilty pleas and “understands he needs to change”.

McCormack, aged 33, of Carsic Lane, Sutton, admitted breaches of restraining orders, and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, on January 27.

On Tuesday, Judge Julie Warburton jailed him for 62 months.
