Sutton man's fine for lockdown breach

A Sutton man who ignored lockdown rules about self-isolating and drove a lorry without a license has been fined just under £1,000.

Ionut Teleuca was stopped on Main Street in Huthwaite, on April 28, after drinking at a friend's house, on suspicion of causing a disturbance in a nearby street.

Teleuca, 28, of Outram Street, Sutton, pleaded guilty to breaching the Health Protection (Coronavirus) Regulations, 2020, when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates Court, on April 28.

He also admitted to driving an HGV in Stevenage, on October 17, last year, while disqualified and without insurance.

He was fined £280, with a £34 surcharge and £85 costs for the offence in April.

And magistrates imposed a further £466 fine, with £85 costs and a £47 victim surcharge for the driving offences.

Teleuca, a Romanian national, was also banned from driving for 12 months.
