Sutton man who was drunk when he fell off kids’ mini-motorbike in police chase ‘wasn't thinking straight’

A Sutton man who was drunk when he fell off a mini-motorbike for kids while police were chasing him admitted he "wasn't thinking straight," a court heard.
Police spotted Daniel Muldowney riding a FunBikes MXR 60 Race minibike on Brand Lane at 9.20pm on September 21, said Grace Turner, prosecuting.
He sped up, mounted the pavement, and swerved from side to side before falling off and surrendering to the officers.
A breath test revealed he had 82 microgrammes of alcohol, when the legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Muldowney, who represented himself, received maximum credit for his guilty plea, and said: "I am very sorry. I wasn't thinking straight.”
The 27-year-old, of Institute Street, Sutton, admitted drink driving, and driving without insurance or a licence, when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court on Thursday.
He was fined £120 with a £48 surcharge and £85 costs.
He was disqualified for 20 months but will receive a 25 per cent discount if he completes a rehabilitation course.
