Sutton man who assaulted cop before Christmas back in trouble for drink driving in the New Year

A Sutton man who assaulted a police officer in a drunken altercation before Christmas was back in trouble for drink driving in the New Year, a court has heard.

Multiple officers were needed to escort Dylan Vincent away from a disturbance outside the Blindspot nightclub in Mansfield, at 1.30am on November 30, said Sarah Angus, prosecuting.

He was shouting and being aggressive towards a small group of males and complaining that a woman had taken his mobile phone.

When an officer grabbed his left arm, Vincent made as if to punch him. He was pushed to the ground where he kicked out and tried to headbutt an officer.

During the scuffle an officer's thumb went into his mouth but he denied deliberately biting it.

On January 2 at 1.30pm, Vincent was found over the limit at the McDonald's drive-through on Priestsic Road with two passengers.

A breath test revealed he had 61 microgrammes of alcohol when the legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Ryan Higginbotham, mitigating, said: "He takes full responsibility and acknowledges he has made some foolish decisions over the last month or so.

"He is 24 years old. He has a relatively brief record. These are isolated incidents in Mr Vincent's young life."

Vincent, of Percival Crescent, Sutton, admitted drink driving, driving without insurance, and assaulting an emergency worker when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

He was fined £1,000, and ordered to pay £170 costs and a £400 surcharge.

He was disqualified from driving for 17 months, but a rehabilitation course could reduce the ban by 25 per cent.
