Suspected Sutton burglar arrested at scene of break-in this morning

A suspected burglar was arrested by police in Sutton after they rushed to the scene of a break-in in the early hours of this morning.

Officers were called by a concerned neighbour to a shop in Outram Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, shortly after 4.15am this morning (Thursday, October 15).

Police heard loud banging coming from inside the premises after they spotted a bike outside and entered the building.

A 37-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of burglary and remains in police custody.

Detective Sergeant Ian Holmes said: “We were called by a concerned neighbour and arrived to find a suspect still inside the building.

"A police officer was very swiftly on the scene and was quickly able to detain a suspect.

“Burglaries are hugely damaging for local businesses, especially at this difficult time, so I am delighted that we were able to resolve this incident so quickly.”
