Suspect charged after Mansfield man was stabbed at bus stop

A suspect has appeared in court after a man was stabbed in Mansfield last week.

Emergency services were called shortly before 9.40pm on Wednesday 28 July after the attack at a bus stop in Jubilee Way South, Mansfield..

It is believed the victim, a 39-year-old man, was attacked around 20 minutes earlier.

He remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

John Lambert, aged 40, of Mappleton Drive, Mansfield, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning and was remanded into custody. He will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 22 August.

Detective Sergeant Matt Scott, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a very serious assault and I am pleased we have now been able to bring a charge in this case.

“Knife offences can have a devastating impact on the lives of so many so many people.”
