Stolen motorcycle and drugs found by officers during Sutton house raids

A stolen motorcycle and drugs were found in Sutton houses during police raids, as part of a new proactive policing project to keep the county safe.

Operation Reacher police teams recovered the items at houses in Chatsworth Street in Sutton and Vine Terrace in Hucknall.

A 38-year-old man was interviewed under caution on suspicion of the cultivation of cannabis, the illegal extraction of electricity and possession of a stolen motorcycle.

It come after nearly 100 people were arrested and interviewed under caution for offences and a sword, £80,000 in cash and 24 vehicles were seized in the first fortnight of additional Nottinghamshire’s additional neighbourhood policing teams.

Operation Reacher was launched across the county two weeks ago to deter criminals and clamp down on across 12 areas in the region.

These are just some of the highlights of two weeks’ worth of hard work across communities, as Nottinghamshire Police continues its clamp down on crime.

Chief Constable Craig Guildford said: “I am incredibly impressed with the results we have seen across the county since the launch of our Operation Reacher teams.

“As I have previously mentioned, this is neighbourhood policing with teeth and we have really hit the ground running.

"To see so many arrests, tens of thousands of pounds cash of drugs and nearly £100k cash recovered in just two weeks is excellent and demonstrates our commitment to putting resources at the heart of our communities.

"The recovery of weapons including knives and firearms is also very positive and will have an impact in reducing weapon-enabled violence as well as disrupting and dismantling criminal operations.

“Over the next weeks and months people will see a wide range of a proactive work from the teams across Nottinghamshire, including drugs warrants, speeding and nuisance bike operations, weapons sweeps as well as high-visibility patrols, pop-up community engagement events and officers being out and about and getting to know people.”

Nottinghamshire Police made 94 arrests, including some voluntary interviews, seized 26 vehicles and recovered 25 weapons including nine knives, three machetes, a sword, a knuckle duster and five firearms in the last two weeks.
