Stanton Hill man Nicholas Russell appears before Nottingham Crown Court charged with child sex offences


A Stanton Hill man charged with sexual offences against young girls has appeared before Nottingham Crown Court.

Nicholas James Russell (22) of Meden Bank, Stanton Hill, who is charged with a total of seven sexual offences against minors, appeared before the court for a preliminary hearing today (5th June) after his case was referred from Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on 22nd May.

He is charged with two counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14, three counts of sexual touching of a girl under 13 years of age, rape of a girl aged under 13 and attempted rape of a girl aged under 13 years old.

Russell entered no plea when he appeared before the crown court today and will next appear for a plea and directions hearing on 6th October.

If he enters a plea of not guilty, a trial date has been set for 8th December.

The offences allegedly took place between January 2003 and September 2007.

Under the terms of his bail, Russell must not contact the alleged victims and must not enter certain parts of the Mansfield area.
