An exchange of slaps between an arguing couple landed a gardener in Mansfield Magistrates’ Court.
Robert Roy Neill (34) of Mount Crescent, Warsop, admitted assault during a recent hearing.
Neill Hollett, prosecuting, told the court how Neill had been drinking with his partners’ brother when an argument with his partner over keys flared up.
The couple, who have six children together, had argued the night before.
Quarrelling on the driveway of their home, the court was told how she had struck him before he retaliated and hit her with an open hand.
He was handed a 12-month community order, 100 hours community service and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £60 surcharge.
