Shop worker chases armed masked man out of Kirkby store

Nottinghamshire Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to an attempted armed robbery in a Kirkby shop last month.

Police are appealing for information after it was reported that an armed man entered the shop on Laurel Grove in Kirkby, at around 3pm on April 18, carrying a large knife.

The shop worker confronted the masked man before he was chased out of the shop, and the man ran from the scene.

He has been described as a white male, wearing a black hooded jumper, a khaki green jacket, black Adidas tracksuit bottoms and black trainers, and officers are now appealing for witnesses to come forward to help with their enquiries.

Police Constable Welch, who is leading the investigation.said: "This must have been a terrifying experience for the victims and for those who witnessed it.

"We believe that there were several people in the area at that time, including children of school age, so we are appealing for those with any information, no matter how small, to come forward.

" Robbery is totally unacceptable and we will always take action against offenders.

“Incidents like these not only harm businesses financially, but they can also be incredibly distressing for staff within the stores.

"The incident happened at around 3pm on 18 April 2021 in Laurel Grove in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.

"It was reported the armed man ran towards Clumber Street and headed over Movern Park.

"If you can help with our enquiries, please call 101, quoting incident number 563 of 18 April 2021."
