Shirebrook murder probe: Six arrested now released on bail

Six people that were arrested in connection with the murder of a Shirebrook man have now been released on bail.

The investigation was launched following the death of Andrew Jackson in Shirebrook on Sunday January 26.

Mr Jackson who was 55-years-old, was discovered at around 10am that day at an allotment, off Prospect Drive.

Since Thursday last week (January 30) six people have been arrested on suspicion of murder. A 51-year-old woman and five men aged 26, 27, 37, 39 and 44 have now been bailed.

Detective Inspector Christopher Marriott who is the Senior Investigating Officer said: “This investigation is still very much ongoing and officers remain in the community carrying out enquiries and gathering intelligence.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for the information they have provided us with so far and for the CCTV footage that has been given to the detectives working on the investigation.Anyone with any information that may help our enquiries is asked to contact us quoting reference number 20*049022.

Mr Jackson’s murder has caused shock waves throughout the community and residents have come together to organise a number of fundraising events to raise money for his funeral costs.

Kevin Potter, who had known Andrew for 20 years, is taking part in a sponsored head shave, and is accepting donations at his shop Forever Green CBD in the marketplace. The head shave itself will take place during a fundraising event at The Soldiers – Shirebrook Ex-servicemen’s Club on February 22.
