Shirebrook drunk told police his wife had been murdered after they stopped him dodging through traffic
A drunk Shirebrook man told police he was a “dangerous man” and that his wife had been murdered after they stopped him dodging through traffic, a court has heard.
Michal Ignatowicz was staggering in and out of moving traffic in the middle of Priestsic Road, Sutton, at 10.40am on October 22, said prosecutor Ben Payne.
After police guided him to the pavement he began “shouting nonsense”, suggesting that he was being chased by unknown people, and that his wife had been murdered.
He claimed to be a dangerous man and the officers put him in handcuffs and took him home.

But when they arrived at his home on Sookholme Road, Shirebrook, he began screaming that people were after him. He tried to slide the handcuffs under his legs and kicked at the police vehicle’s doors.
“He was becoming increasingly disorderly and shouted the officers were fake and he needed real police,” added Mr Payne.
A folding knife was found in his pocket when he was searched at the police station.
The court heard he has three previous convictions for dissimilar offences, including drink driving from July last year.
Ignatowicz, who represented himself via a Polish interpreter, told magistrates he used the knife for work.
"I have been determined to stop drinking for some time since I got myself into trouble, " he said, adding he welcomed any support to start a "new sober life."
Ignatowicz, 38, admitted drunk and disorderly behaviour, and possessing a blade, when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court on November 11.
On Tuesday, he received a 12-month community order with 15 rehabilitation days and a 120-day alcohol monitoring and abstinence programme.
