Lisa Williams (30) and Katy Spaughton (30), both of Springfield Avenue, Shirebrook, have been convicted of benefit fraud after separate investigations by Bolsover District Council and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
The two failed to declare they were living with their partners, who were in full-time employment, whilst they continued to claim Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit and Income Support.
Both pleaded guilty at North East Derbyshire and Dales Court. Williams was given a 200 hours’ unpaid work community order and will have to repay £11,800 in benefits. Spaughton received the same order and must repay £15,300.
