Reports from the courts: defendants from Mansfield and Ashfield

These are the latest cases heard at Nottingham Magistrates Court between June 14 and June 18.

Eleanor Backhouse, 36, of Stonecross Court, Mansfield, admitted one count of using threatening words or behaviour and another count that was racially aggravated, on August 11, 2020. On June 17 she was ordered to pay £250 compensation.

Ricky Jones, 28, of Green Bank, Rainworth, admitted possession of cannabis and a knife, and driving with 40 mcgs of alcohol when the legal limit is 35 mcgs. On June 18 he was fined £550 with a £55 surcharge and £85 costs. He was banned for 12 months, but a rehabilitation course will reduce the disqualification by three months if he completes it before January 2022.

Kyle Bramwell, 33, of Skegby Road, Kirkby, admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance, on May 4, 2020. On June 18 he was fined £100, with a £34 surcharge and £85 costs. He was disqualified for nine months.

Vaughan Cook, 32, of Ashton Road, Sutton, admitted assaulting two police officers on November 1, 2020. On June 18 he received a 12 month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £125 costs and £200 compensation.

Eddy Shaw, 63, of Blidworth Lane, Rainworth, admitted driving without proper control of a vehicle on January 23, 2020. On June 18 he was fined £168, with a £32 surcharge and he received six points on his licence.

Nathan Smith, 31, of no fixed abode, admitted assaulting a man at Lakeside Point Retail Park, Sutton, on February 11. On June 18 he was jailed for 12 weeks and ordered to pay £225 compensation.
