He was today (Friday) sentenced to a total of 13 years in prison and made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life.

Detective Constable Mark Kimberley, who led the investigation, said: "Robinson abused the trust placed in him and carried out horrifying abuse of a young girl who didn't fully understand what was happening.

"We take sexual offences very seriously and would urged anyone affected by abuse to call us on 101. We treat survivors of abuse with sensitivity and compassion and are committed to bringing offenders to justice."

An NSPCC spokesperson said: “It is difficult to comprehend how depraved individuals like Robinson could subject a defenceless young child to sickening sexual abuse.

“Childhoods are destroyed by this kind of abuse and the impact can last long into adulthood, so it is vital that the victim gets all of the support she needs to help her come to terms with this horrendous ordeal.

“It is also important that Robinson receives treatment while behind bars to reduce any risk he might pose to children on his release.”
