Police want to trace bikers riding illegally near Hucknall and Annesley

They were filmed by drone on May 22 at around 5pm on land near the A611 between Hucknall and Annesley.

Members of Nottinghamshire Police’s Off Road Bikes team are clamping down on the illegal use of off-road bikes and will be using a drone throughout the summer to assist during these Off Road Police Operations.

Sergeant Colin Morley said: “We will not tolerate people riding motorcycles in this way. These individuals have the potential to cause serious harm to other people who are simply trying to enjoy the countryside.

“For example in the past we had a case where a horse, frightened by a group of off-road bikes on a bridleway, threw its rider. She broke her ankle in the fall but her injuries could have been even worse.

“People who ride bikes like this are reckless, antisocial and dangerous, and we will do everything in our power to bring them to justice. At the very least they can expect a fine, but if we catch them again we will seize their bikes and add them to our growing collection.”

Officers from the Off Roads Bike Team tracked bikes in various areas of the county throughout the day. One bike was seized in Blenheim Lane, Hucknall, after its rider fell off and abandoned it. While the offender was not apprehended his bike was seized and found to have no tax and no insurance.
