Police taser 'violent and aggressive' Mansfield man after threatening pharmacy staff

A man was arrested in Mansfield after he threatened staff at a pharmacy and assaulted a police officer.

The man was reported to the police for being aggressive to staff at the shop on Station Street on April 1.

Officers en-route we flagged down by a member of the public, who pointed out the same man was banging on the shop windows and shouting

When police attempted to detain the man he began to violently resist and punched an officer in the face, whilst swearing and shouting towards the police.

The man was sprayed by PAVA (the incapacitate spray officers use), but the violence continued and a taser had to be discharged.

He was arrested under suspicion of public order and police assault.

The officer suffered only minor injuries.

Mark Dolan, 42, of Broomhill Lane in Mansfield has been charged with the offences and has been remanded in custody after appearing at Nottingham Magistrates on 1 April 2020.
