Police swoop on "significant" cannabis grow in Mansfield area

Suspicious power shortages led police to discover a significant grow of 88 cannabis plants in Rainworth.

Police were called to North Avenue on Monday (25 January 2021) to investigate after suspicions were raised following power issues in the area.

Officers from the Ollerton response team went to take a look and when they arrived, they found that four rooms were full of mature cannabis plants. The property was further searched there was no-one in the house.

A scene was placed at the property and the cannabis dismantling team attended yesterday (26 January) to recover the plants.

Sergeant Christian Hurley, from the Rainworth Beat Team, said: "This good work by our teams means that 88 plants worth of cannabis is now off the streets and unable to fall into the wrong hands.

"We take reports of drugs activity very seriously and we will investigate thoroughly where there are such reports.

“The large-scale production of illegal drugs has a significant negative impact on our communities that often brings with it violence and other related offending. We are determined to clamp down on the people responsible.
