Police make further arrests in murder probe in Nottinghamshire village

Police have made two more arrests as part of a murder probe launched after a woman died in a collision in a Nottinghamshire village.

Officers were called to Alfreton Road, Selston, at 6.23pm on Saturday, July 25 after reports of a crash involving a van and a woman.

The 32-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene and five people were arrested in connection with the incident.

Police also arrested a 37-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy yesterday in relation to the crash the day before.

Three suspects have been released on bail and four remain in police custody for questioning this afternoon.

Detective Inspector Richard Monk, leading the investigation, said: “We have made a number of arrests in connection with the events that led to the death of a 32-year-old woman.

“This was an incredibly serious incident and we continue to explore a number of lines of enquiry as part of our investigation.

“While we have made arrests, our investigation is still very much ongoing and we are still looking for anyone who may know something to come forward.”

Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Mark Dickson said: “This is was an incredibly tragic isolated incident but we are working closely with the community to address any concerns they may have and we have an increased police presence in the area to reassure the public.”
