Police investigating after Co-op burglary in Huthwaite

Nottinghamshire Police is investigating after a Co-op store in Huthwaite was burgled.

Officers were called to the scene just before 4.15am on Sunday, October 15, to reports of a burglary in the Co-op store, in Station Road.

Cigarettes and alcohol were taken from the store, which remains open to shoppers.

A police spokesman said: "Our officers were called to a burglary at the Co-op store, on Station Road, Huthwaite at 4.13am on Sunday, October 14.

"Cigarettes and alcohol were both taken from the store, however no cash was reported stolen.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information, is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 171 of October 14, 2018.

"Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

This is not the first time the Co-op store in Huthwaite has been targeted, with the cash machine "blown up" by thieves in August.

A Spokesperson for the Co-op, said: “There was an incident at our store in Huthwaite in the early hours of Sunday morning when two intruders entered the store.

"The store remained closed on Sunday morning to allow Police to investigate, and for essential repairs to be carried out.

"The store has now re-opened to serve the community.

"Police are investigating, and we appeal for anyone with information to come forward.”
