The plants have now been taken and destroyed, and the equipment used to grow them has been put beyond use.

Sergeant Neil Priestley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a significant cannabis grow that would have taken a considerable amount of time, money and effort to set up. We are still investigating the circumstances of the burglary and the motivation for it, but we think it’s safe to assume that the victim won’t be ringing us to report it any time soon.

“Cannabis grows like this are not only illegal, they can also be very dangerous – with the crudely bypassed electric metres and the sheer heat they generate posing a significant fire risk to neighbouring properties.
