Police caught Mansfield man with cocaine, cannabis and MDMA
A Mansfield man had three different drugs spread across his table when police officers were called to an incident at his home, a court has heard.
They found Liam Smith ‘under the influence of something’, with small quantities of cocaine, cannabis and MDMA on the table on December 12 last year, said prosecutor Daniel Pietryka.
The offence took place 10 days before the end of a four month sentence, suspended for 12 months, which was imposed in 2019 for criminal damage and possession of a blade.
Smith, who works in construction and earns £230 per day, represented himself.
He said: "I was going through a bad time for my mental health, and I was admitted to hospital for it.
"I was wrong to take the drugs. I haven't abused any drugs since. I am in full-time employment. I have always worked."
Smith, 35, of Spinners Close, Mansfield, admitted possession of the drugs, at Nottingham Magistrates Court, on Thursday.
Magistrates fined him £1,600 with £85 costs.
