Police arrest seven after break-in at partially collapsed former Mansfield supermarket
Police made seven arrests and found 100 bags full of stolen goods following a break-in at a partially collapsed former Mansfield supermarket.
Officers who attended the closed B&M store, in Stockwell Gate, Mansfield, around 10pm on Friday (March 6 ) following reports a burglary was in progress have revealed more details about the incident.
The details come after Mansfield District Council issued a warning today about the dangers of the building due to the collapse of the car park above.
It was discovered a group of offenders had entered the premises before filling a car with items and fleeing the scene.

Around 100 carrier bags full of goods were found on a staircase just inside a fire exit to the building.
Officers worked quickly to analyse CCTV footage and traced the vehicle, which was located and followed to an address in Stanton Hill, Sutton-in-Ashfield.
When officers searched the property they found around 40 further B&M carrier bags filled with brand new items in the basement.
Three men, aged 26, 26 and 27, a woman, aged 23, and three boys, aged 15, 16 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and handling stolen goods.
They have all been bailed with strict conditions while investigations continue.
Inspector Katie Eustace, district commander for Mansfield, said: “The response officers who attended the break-in deserve great praise for their efficient and rapid initial investigations into this incident.
“Their efforts allowed us to make seven arrests and recover large quantities of stolen goods.
“This building is currently derelict and unsafe, so I’d urge people to keep away from it. I’d also add that remaining stock is now being removed.”
Chief Executive of Mansfield District Council, James Biddlestone, said: “We want to thank the police and our CCTV operators for their swift action which has led to several arrests following unlawful entry into the former B&M building on Walkden Street.
"The building remains extremely dangerous due to the collapse of the car park above and anyone who tries to enter is putting themselves at real risk and may be arrested.
“Our council staff and police colleagues continue to check the site at personal risk to make sure no one is inside and we are grateful for their work. We urge people to stay away from the building and respect all fencing and warning signs.”
Anyone with any information about the incident should call police on 101, quoting incident 831 of 6 March 2026, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
