Police appeal for victim to come forward after alleged assault in Mansfield

Police have appealed for the victim of an alleged assault in the town centre to come forward.

The incident is believed to have happened around 2am on Sunday March 1 on Leeming Street.

Police arrested a 34-year-old man under suspicion of assault, following a report into the force from a witness.

The arrested man remains in police custody.

Officers are keen to speak to the potential victim who is yet to be identified, as well as anyone else who may have seen what happened.

Investigating officer DCI Leigh Sanders said: “We are really keen to identify this victim and to ascertain what occurred during this incident. It was reported to us by someone who witnessed the alleged assault, and we want to ensure we trace the victim in this case. They have not directly reported this to us yet.”
