Paramedic catches alleged burglar after returning from shift in Kirkby

A prolific burglar has been charged after excellent work by a paramedic who was returning home from a very long shift

The emergency worker noticed a man acting suspiciously at 6am on Monday morning (30 March 2020) on space wastelands in Kirkby, near to Boundary Close.

The man was walking back and forth with holdall bags and rucksacks and hiding them in the bushes.

The man then reappeared with a small suitcase and hides that in the undergrowth, before trying to lift a bike over a fence towards the train tracks.

Response officers attended the incident and located the man in the field, who matched the paramedic's description.

Officers quickly arrest him under suspicion of burglary and theft and seize the property which later is discovered as power tools (pictured) and other items believed to be stolen.

Following further enquiries it was enquiries around the area, it was established that a garage on Sorrel Drive had items stolen including power tools and a handbag from a car.

Lee Clowes, 35, no fixed address has been charged with burglary other than dwelling and theft and also two counts of theft from a motor vehicle.

Police Sergeant Carl Holland said: "This was an excellent spot by the paramedic, especially after a long and tiring shift, and without that call we wouldn't have Clowes before the court today."

Clowes has been remanded into custody will appear at Nottingham Remand Court later today (31 March).
