A MANSFIELD Woodhouse couple have been banned from keeping animals for 18 months after failing to look after their cat when it required veterinary assistance.
Lee Jardine (26) and Diane Cassidy (23), of Cross Street, did not seek medical help for their pet kitten when it was suffering from a broken growth plate in October last year.
Jardine was found not guilty of causing the injury to the cat but also faced charges of causing ‘physical trauma’ to a dog, which suffered a broken leg, in a separate incident.
He was cleared of any wrongdoing in relation to the dog due to a lack of evidence. He was handed an 18-month community order and warned over his future conduct following a trial last month.
Cassidy was handed a six-month community order at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court after the RSPCA pursued the case.
