Ashfield MP Lee Anderson said: "At a time when our country is pulling together it would appear that there is once again a tiny proportion of mindless idiots who seem intent on spreading a message of hate.

“Many of us had grandparents who fought and died 80 years to defeat this sort of hatred.

“These mindless morons need reminding of our past and the fact many of them would not be here today without our grandparents valiant efforts all those years ago".

“Our Environment team responded as soon as this was brought to our attention and are in the process of removing the graffiti. We have alerted the Police and will now work with them to try and identify the perpetrators. I would encourage anyone with any information to contact the Police on 101.

“I am disgusted at this behaviour, especially considering this council adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance working definition of Antisemitism just last month. I can only assume that whoever did this is ignorant to its significance.”
