Outrage as swastikas sprayed onto sheltered housing for over 60s in Kirkby
Obscene graffiti of swastikas has been sprayed onto the walls and windows of a block of flats that houses residents over 60.
It appeared overnight on the walls and windows of Sherwood Court, on Sherwood Street, Kirkby, a living facility for residents over 60.
Jemma Swietek, 31, who spotted the graffiti at 9.45am this morning when she was out with her daughter.
"I was disgusted, I was with my daughter stopped and went 'oh my god'. I put bags down and took photos,” she said.

"My granddad and many others fought for us all and this is what we get back from it.
"I'm from a polish background and very proud to talk about my granddad was in the tank regiment and had the scars from being shot at.
"They did all this for the little swines we have in the world now.
"He would be disgusted and I wouldn't be able to repeat what he would be saying."

Ashfield MP Lee Anderson said: "At a time when our country is pulling together it would appear that there is once again a tiny proportion of mindless idiots who seem intent on spreading a message of hate.
“Many of us had grandparents who fought and died 80 years to defeat this sort of hatred.
“These mindless morons need reminding of our past and the fact many of them would not be here today without our grandparents valiant efforts all those years ago".
Councillor David Martin, Portfolio Holder for streets, parks and town centres said: “I am appalled that something like this has happened again in Kirkby, following a similar incident on Morven Park in January.

“Our Environment team responded as soon as this was brought to our attention and are in the process of removing the graffiti. We have alerted the Police and will now work with them to try and identify the perpetrators. I would encourage anyone with any information to contact the Police on 101.
“I am disgusted at this behaviour, especially considering this council adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance working definition of Antisemitism just last month. I can only assume that whoever did this is ignorant to its significance.”
