Notts woman to be sentenced for death of elderly woman in car crash

A 74-year-old Notts woman is set to be sentenced for her role in the death of an elderly woman in a car crash.

Mildred Short, of Mapperley Plains, Arnold, indicated a plea of guilty to causing death by driving without due care and attention, when she appeared before magistrates in Nottingham, on September 18.

Annette Currie-Wood, 93, of West Bridgford, died in hospital on Sunday, October 13, following the crash which happened at around 10am, on Wednesday, October 9.

Nottinghamshire Police and paramedics responded to the two-vehicle collision in Mapperley Plains, Arnold, near to its junction with Linden Place.

The road was blocked as a result of the incident and buses were diverted, it was reported at the time.

She was remanded on unconditional bail to appear at Nottingham Magistrates Court, on October 9, to be sentenced.

An interim driving ban was imposed until her case is dealth with. The hearing is expected to last two hours.
