The positive engagement scheme is a police led initiative where officers engage and support young people between the ages of 10 – 18 who are either vulnerable, socially excluded or involved in crime.

Youth Outreach Worker Romel Davis said: "Whilst there are so many young people and their families at home during the Coronavirus outbreak, we thought it would be fitting to deliver the treats as well as use the opportunity to check in on some of our most vulnerable children during these difficult times.

"The sweet treats which includes popcorn, Easter eggs and fizzy drinks have been kindly donated by wilko’s so a massive thank you to them."

Jerome Saint-Marc, wilko CEO, said: “We know that this crisis is hitting those who were already vulnerable, the hardest, which is why we’re focusing much of our community work particularly on families. We hope this small gesture will go some way in cheering up youngsters across Nottinghamshire – and we truly appreciate the ongoing support of Citizens in Policing Department for helping us make this activity happen.”

Councillor Rebecca Langton, Portfolio Holder for Communities at Nottingham City Council, said: “We were delighted to get involved in this partnership between the Council’s Community Protection teams, the police, Nottingham Forest, community and faith groups and local volunteers.”
